Patakas was born in [[Thessaloniki]] in [[1926]] and first played football for Megas Alexandros. In [[1948]], he transferred to [[AEK FC|AEK]] where he played until [[1951]]. That year, he returned to Megas Alexandros for one season only to rejoin AEK in [[1952]].

Patakas quit playing in [[1955]].
