'''Panagiotis Pipinelis''' was a diplomat, politician and, briefly, Prime Minister of [[Greece]]. He was born in [[Piraeus]] in [[1899]].

Pipinelis studied law and served for many years as a diplomat in various Greek embassies - Budapest ([[1936]]), Sofia ([[1940]]), etc. He became Foreign Minister between 1947-1950. In [[1952]], Pipinelis became the permanent representative of Greece in NATO.

He entered parliamentary politics under the banner of the [[National Radical Union]] ([[ERE]]) of [[Constantine Karamanlis]].

In [[1963]], he was appointed Prime Minister of Greece for a short time. During his tenure, his main accomplishment was to change the electoral system to lessen the impact of a certain defeat for his party. In spite of this, [[Georgios Papandreou]] and the [[Centre Union]] party, in a repeat election ousted the ERE government with nearly 53% of the vote.

Pipinelis next took up office during the period of the [[Junta]] as Foreign Minister, one of the few politicians of the pre-dictatorial era to do so. He died in [[1970]].
