'''Skarlatos Soutsos''' ([[1806]] - [[1887]]) was a [[Greeks|Greek]] military man and politician of the [[19th century]].

Soutsos was born in [[1806]] to a distinguished family of Phanariotes. He studied in the military school of Munich, on a scholarship by King Ludwig, graduating in [[1828]]. He then enlisted in the Greek artillery.

In [[1837]], Soutsos was assigned to the Palace of [[King Otto]]. In [[1854]], he became Minister of the Military, a post he regained in [[1869]] under [[King George I]]. The [[Massacre at Dilesi]] occurred under his tenure of office and, after being accused of being responsible, was forced to resign along with the rest of the government of [[Thrasivoulos Zaimis]].

In [[1878]], Zaimis led the Greek expeditionary force into [[Thessaly]] which had revolted against Ottoman yoke.

Zaimis died in [[1887]]. He was the father of [[Dimitrios Soutsos]] who served as Mayor of [[Athens]].
