Koutsianikoulis was born on [[August 9]], [[1988]]. He started his football career at Iraklis Chalki in the Greek [[Football D Division|D Division]]. In [[2007]], he was given a try out by [[OFI FC|OFI]] in a friendly against cross-town rivals [[Ergotelis FC|Ergotelis]]. Unexpectedly, it was Ergotelis who snatched the young midfielder.

Koutsianikoulis played in 12 matches in the [[2008]] [[Alpha Ethniki]] season, however it is in the current season that he has made his mark with two outstanding games against [[Aris FC|Aris]] and [[Panathinaikos FC|Panathinaikos]]. Against the latter, he scored two goals and assisted in another for a shock 3-2 away victory against the greens.

Koutsianikoulis has been compared to Argentinian superstar Leonel Messi and is on the wanted list of major clubs in Greece.

He has played with the Greek Under-19 team and was a member of the squad that, on [[July 27]], [[2007]], played in the final of the European Cup in Linz, Austria, where they lost 1-0 to Spain winning 2nd place.
