Georgios Alogoskoufis was born in Athens on October 17, 1955. He studied economics at the University of Athens and completed his post-graduate studies at the London School of Economics.
He is a member of New Democracy's central committee.
Between 1992-1993 he chaired an experts committee at the National Economy Ministry. Georgios Alogoskoufis has been elected to Parliament from Athens' first election district since 1996.
In 1997 he was made New Democracy's shadow finance minister.
Married to Dika Agapitidou, he has two daughters (Athinaida, Danai) and a son (Spiros).
