Vasilis Lymperis (alt. spellings: Lyberis or Liberis) has gone down in history as the last person executed in Greece, on August 25, 1972. He was sentenced to death on May 7 of the same year for the murder his wife, mother-in-law and two kids. According to the prosecution, he set ablaze his house at Metamorphosis Chalandri. He doused the premises with gasoline and torched the place in the middle of the night, while his family members were asleep.
