Castellan (Greek: Καστελλανος, Φρουραρχος). Title going back over 1000 years. The Castellan was the Governor of a castle (Greek: Καστρο, Φρουριο).
His duties were not only the protection and maintenance of the Castle, but also to look after prisoners.
