- February 22: The trial of a bandit and several high officials of the Police force over the 1933 assassination attempt on Venizelos' life begins.
- February 25: A major earthquake (7.0 on the Richter scale) strikes Crete.

- March 1: A Venizelist coup d'etat fails and Eleftherios Venizelos flees to Italy.
- March 21: A fire destroys the city centre of Edessa.
- March 24: Generals Anastasios Papoulas and Miltiades Koimisis are executed for their role in the March 1 attempted coup d' etat.

- April 6: Greek-language schools resume operation in Northern Epirus after a decision by the International Court of The Hague.

- June 9: Panagis Tsaldaris wins the Greek national elections which were boycotted by all parties loyal to Eleftherios Venizelos.

- July 6: Exiled King George II divorces Queen Elisabeth. Anti-royalists will claim that this divorce is in retaliation for Queen Elisabeth's brother (King Carol of Romania) divorcing King George's sister (Queen Helen).

- August 31: Grigoris Lambrakis breaks the Greek record for the long jump with 7.15m.

- October 10: Georgios Kondilis seizes power after a coup d'etat.
- October 13: Panagiotis Chlentzos breaks the Greek record in the pole vault with 4.015m. His record stood until 1950.
November
- November 3: A referendum is held for the return of King George II to the throne in Greece. 97.8% allegedly vote for the return.
- November 26: King George II returns to Greece.
