The 1948-1949 Football Championship was a Panhellenic championship organised under the auspices of the Hellenic Football Federation. It was won by Panathinaikos.
Background
The 1949 championship was played in two phases: On the local level:
- Round-robin tournaments were held in Athens, Piraeus and Thessaloniki. They were won by Panathinaikos, Olympiakos and Aris respectively.
The national championship was then contested between the three winners.
The matches
- June 26, 1949: Panathinaikos - Olympiakos 3-2
- July 3, 1949: Aris - Olympiakos 4-4
- July 10, 1949: Olympiakos - Panathinaikos 2-0 (stopped while score was 1-0 and awarded as forfeit)
- July 14, 1949: Olympiakos - Aris 4-1
- Panathinaikos - Aris 2-0 (forfeit)
- July 25, 1949: Aris - Panathinaikos 0-2
