  • March 4: Armenians are evicted from the Turkish sector of Nicosia. A total of 231 previously Armenian houses are taken over by Turkish-Cypriots.
  • March 6: Constantine II becomes King of Greece upon the death of his father King Paul.
  • March 7: Fighting breaks out in Mallia, Lemesos province, Cyprus between Cypriot National Guardsmen and Turkish Cypriot irregulars.
  • March 13: Turkey issues an ultimatum to the Cypriot government that unless all Turkish Cypriot prisoners of the civil conflict were released and freedom of movement was restored, they would invade the island in 36 hours.
  • March 28: The Turkish government starts expelling ethnic Greeks. During the 1964, almost 10,000 Greeks will be forced out of Turkey.
