Comments

Though AEK led much of the way, it was PAOK who won the league title - their first - thus breaking a 30-year monopoly of Olympiakos, Panathinaikos and AEK.

PAOK had previously come very close in 1973, finishing second after an unexpected 5-3 home loss to Panachaiki, but made sure this one was in the bag.

Another remarkable feature of this championship is that NO club was relegated as the league expanded to 18 teams in the following year!
