  • February 5: The figures of the 1981 Census are announced: the population of Greece stands at 9,740,411.

  • March 19: "Vradyni" publisher, Tzortzis Athanasiadis is murdered in his office by left-wing radicals.
  • March 22: In a letter to the Police, an organisation called "Anti-terrorist Struggle" assumes responsibility for the murder of publisher Tzortzis Athanasiadis.
  • March 30: The 5-day, 40-hour work week is enacted for private industry in Greece.
