January
- January 9: Talks begin in Geneva in an effort to reunify the island of Cyprus.
- January 11: The Greek-Cypriot and Turkish-Cypriot sides exchange maps, for the first time since 1976, proposing the territorial boundaries for each community in a reunified Cyprus.
- January 19: AEK FC name Manolo Jimenez as their new coach.
- January 26: The Supreme Court of Greece rules against extraditing eight Turkish officers who took part in an abortive attempt to overthrow Turkish president Erdogan.
February
- February 17: A Turkish gunboat violates the territorial waters of Greece and conducts shots with live ammunition near the islet of Farmakonisi in eastern Aegean Sea.
- February 23: APOEL defeat Athletic Bilbao 2-0 to advance into the next round of the Europa Cup. Olympiakos defeat Osmanlispor, in Ankara, 3-0 and also advance.
- February 26: The son of a multi-millionaire businessman crashes his speeding Porsche into a parked car, off the Athens-Lamia motorway, causing both vehicles to erupt in flames. A 33-year old mother and her 3-year old child in the parked car, along with the driver and a passenger in the Porsche, are killed.
March
- March 4: Katerina Stefanidi wins the gold medal in the women's pole vault, with 4.85m, at the European Indoor Championships of Belgrade.
April
- April 19: A Greek military helicopter crashes near Elassona resulting in the deaths of four officers.
May
- May 6: PAOK defeat AEK 2-1 to lift the Greek Football Cup. The game was marred by acts of fan violence.
- May 21: Olympiakos finish as Euroleague runner-ups after losing the final game 80-64 to Fenerbahce.
- May 25: Former PM Loukas Papademos is injured when a letter bomb goes off in his car.
June
- June 8: An 11-year old elementary school student is killed, in his school yard, by a stray bullet in Menidi.
- June 12: A powerful earthquake, measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale, strikes off the coast of Lesbos causing much damage in Plomari and Vrisa.
- June 15: PM Alexis Tsipras meets with Cypriot president Nikos Anastasiades and Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, in Thessaloniki.
- June 28: Cypriot president Nikos Anastasiades and Turkish-Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci begin talks, in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, aimed at re-unifying Cyprus.
July
- July 7: The Crans-Montana talks on Cyprus re-unification collapse over the issue of Turkish troops remaining on the island and intervention rights.
- July 15: An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale strikes Crete.
- July 21: An earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale strikes Kos.
- July 23: Greece defeat Israel 65-56 to lift the European Under-20 basketball championship.
- July 25: Greece returns to the Bond Market for the first time since 2014.
August
- August 4: A fire spreads throughout the island of Kythera.
- August 6: Katerina Stefanidi wins gold in the pole vault at the World Championships in London. Her jump of 4.91m sets a Greek record.
September
- September 7: French President Emmanuel Macron pays an official state visit to Greece.
- September 8: Nikos Galis is inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
- September 10: A 45-year old oil tanker named Agia Zoni, sinks off Salamis island causing an oil spill along the Attica shore.
October
- October 7: Lefteris Petrounias wins gold at the World Gymnastics Championships, in Montreal, and becomes only the ninth gymnast to win back-to-back golds in the rings.
- October 17: PM Alexis Tsipras visits the White House and holds a joint press conference with US President Donald Trump.
November
- November 15: Heavy floods hit Mandra, Nea Peramos and Megara, resulting in much damage and causing 25 deaths.
December
- December 2: Greece and its international creditors reach a preliminary agreement on the measures Athens must adopt to pave the way for the disbursement of €5 billion in loans.
- December 7: Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan visits Greece where he meets PM Alexis Tsipras and president Prokopis Pavlopoulos. The Turkish president causes a stir by disputing the Treaty of Lausanne.
