March 9: More than 5,000 people demonstrate in Nea Smyrni after a video is shown of a police officer beating a protester two days earlier. A Greek policeman is seriously injured during the protests.
March 25: Greece celebrates the 200th anniversary of her independence with parades that are broadcast to the general public due to the COVID19 epidemic.

April 9: Veteran crime reporter, Giorgos Karaivaz, is shot dead as he exits his car, outside his house in Alimos.
April 18: Greece and Israel sign a record-breaking $1.65 billion defence procurement deal.
April 25: Greece mourns its 10,000th casualty due to COVID-19.

May 11: 20-year old Caroline Crouch is brutally murdered in her home outside Athens. Her husband says four foreign men tied him up, killed the family dog and then pressed his wife to reveal where their money was before they suffocated her.
May 23: A Ryanair passenger plane, flying from Athens to Vilnius, Lithuania, with Greek passengers aboard, is forced to land in Minsk by Belarus authorities.
May 30: Parliamentary elections are held in Cyprus. The governing party, DISY gathers the largest share of the vote - 27.77% - followed by AKEL at 22.34%, however both parties suffer noticeable losses as smaller parties make gains.

June 11: Stefanos Tsitsipas defeats Alexander Zverev 3-2 sets to become the first Greek to make it to the final of the French Open.
June 16: A Labour Reform bill passes the Hellenic Parliament with 158 votes in favour. Protests had preceeded the passage of the bill as opposition parties claimed t would erode workers rights.
June 17: Babis Anagnostopoulos confesses that he himself killed his wife, Caroline Crouch, on May 11.
August 2: The meteorological station of the National Observatory of Athens in Makrakomi, Phthiotis, records a temperature of 46.3 degrees Celsius (115.3 degrees Fahrenheit) - the highest temperature ever recorded by the NOA.
August 3: A huge fire destroys properties and homes in Varybombi and the surrounding areas.
August 8: The Greek water polo team earns a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics after falling 13-10 to Serbia.
