Akanthou is a town in Ammochostos province, Cyprus, currently under Turkish occupation. It is situated 34 km. northwest of the city of Ammochostos (Famagusta), on the slopes of the Pentadaktylos mountains.

In 1973, its population was 1,507 inhabitants - all of them Greeks.
