Anastasios Karatasos

Anastasios Karatasos was a Greek revolutionary who took part in the War of Independence of 1821.

He was born in 1764 in the village of Dovra, Imathia and was one of the leaders of the Greek Revolution in the Naoussa area. He fought in Veria, Dovra and Naoussa. During the siege of Naoussa, he lost three of his children and his wife, who was captured alive and was thrown into a sack with snakes.

After the war effort failed in Naoussa, Karatasos continued to fight, along with his son Tsamis, in southern Greece. He died in 1830.
