Pavlakakis was born on November 7, 1976 in Xanthi, Thrace. He belongs to Panellinios GC and trains under Dimitris Evangelopoulos.
Pavlakakis holds the Greek record for the 100m with a 10.11 time, achieved in Athens on August 2, 1997.
Among his accomplishments are a gold medal in the Mediterranean Games of 1997 and a gold at the European indoor championships of 1998.
