- 727: A rebelious fleet of vessels from mainland Greece, led by Agallianus, is destroyed by a fleet loyal to Byzantine emperor Leo III. The rebellion occurred as aresult of the emperor's iconoclast views.
- 1878: British diplomats secure a ceasefire between the Greek rebels of Thessaly, Epirus and Macedonia on the one hand and the Turkish Army on the other.
