Augustinos was the younger brother of [[Ioannis Kapodistrias]], first Governor of Greece. After the latter's assassination on [[October 9]], [[1831]], Augustinos inherited his brother's seat in the governing council. He was also part of the triumvirate - along with [[Theodoros Kolokotronis]] and [[Ioannis Kolettis]] - that governed Greece in . On [[1831December 5]] - , [[18321831]], he was name "President of the Government". On [[March 15]], [[1832]], he was named as temporary Governor to serve until a King could be appointed. He was forced to resign on [[March 28]]. Two days later, he left Greece. His 6-month rule was marked by political instability and the country's slide to anarchy. Kapodistrias settled first in [[Kerkyra]] and later in St Petersburg. He lived on a pension by the Russian government until his death in May [[1857]]. He is buried in [[Kerkyra]].
