Christos Melissis, (born December 1, 1982 in Edessa) is a Greek football player who currently plays for Thyella Sarakinon. He usually plays as a center back but when called upon he is used as a right back or a defensive midfielder.

Playing career

Melissis was born on December 1, 1982, in Edessa, Macedonia, Greece. He started his career at Naoussa FC and then played for five years for Panserraikos before attracting the interest of PAOK.

He was signed by PAOK in January 2006 and became an important first team player from the start. He scored his first goal for PAOK in a home game versus Aris FC in 2007.

Towards the end of the 2007–08 season, he was named captain of the PAOK as a reward for his play and commitment.

On 28 July 2008, he transferred to Panathinaikos FC for €2,000,000. He played in 11 games in the 2008–09 season, but his appearances were not convincing and, on August 31, 2009, he was loaned to Larisa FC for one year.

The following year, Melissis was loaned out to Portuguese club Marítimo. On 29 December 2010, he re-joined Larisa FC again on loan.

In June 2012, he joined Panthrakikos as a free agent.

International career

He played for the Greek National Football Team on February 5, 2008, against the Czech Republic. He earned his second cap in a friendly against Cyprus on the May 19, 2008.
