1973: An EgyptAir Ilyushin Il-18 aircraft (Reg No SU-AOV) crashes into the Pentadaktylos mountain range of Cyprus killing all 37 aboard (7 crew and 30 passengers).
1983: Greece reforms family law giving women equal rights.

2006: Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis plays against Roger Federer in the mens' final of the Australian Open. Baghdatis takes the first set but eventually loses 3-1 sets.
