Lakatamia (Greek: Λακαταμεια) is a suburb of Nicosia, Cyprus. It is located in Nicosia province. The total population in the Lakatameia municipality was 28,466 in 2002. Officially the town is split into two different entities : Upper and Lower Lakatamia (Πανω & Κατω Λακαταμεια) Due to the expansion of the Nicosia urban area, Lakatamia has seen considerable population growth in the past years and has grown from two small villages into a sizable suburb. Lakatamia Airfield, an airstrip sometimes used by the military and gouvernment officials is located east of Lakatamia. The private residence of the Cypriot President Tassos Papadopoulos is located in Lakatamia.
