Marios Karoyian

Marios Karoyian is a Cypriot politician, currently president of the Democratic Party (DIKO) and Speaker of the House of Representatives of Cyprus.

Karoyian was born in Lefkosia on May 31, 1961. He studied political science in Perugia, Italy

In March 2003, Karoyian was appointed Director of the Office of President Tasos Papadopoulos. In May 2006, he was elected to the House of Representatives of Cyprus. Later that year he was elected leader of the Democratic Party succeeding Tasos Papadopoulos.

On March 6, 2008, Karoyian was elected Speaker of the House of Representatives, succeeding Dimitris Christofias who was elected President of Cyprus.

Karoyian is married with two children. He speaks English, Italian and Spanish.
