Sergio Apraham Markarian (born November 1, 1944 in Montevideo, Uruguay) is a football (soccer) coach of Armenian heritage. He never played football professionally and became a coach in 1974, achieving success in most of the teams he has managed.

Titles as a Coach

  • 1983 Paraguayan League with Olimpia Asunción of Paraguay.
  • 1985 Paraguayan League with Olimpia Asunción of Paraguay.
  • 1989 Paraguayan League runner-up and Torneo República champion with Sol de América of Paraguay.
  • 1990/91 Torneo Republica and Torneo de Honor champion with Cerro Porteño of Paraguay.
  • 1992 South American champion with the Under-23 Paraguayan national football team
  • 1993 Peruvian League champion with Universitario de Deportes of Perú
  • 1996/97 Peruvian League champion and Copa Libertadores runner-up with Sporting Cristal of Perú.
  • 1998/99 UEFA Cup qualification with Ionikos FC of Greece.
  • 2002 Qualification to the 2002 FIFA World Cup with the Paraguay national football team
  • 2002 Led Panathinaikos of Greece to the quarter finals of the UEFA Champions League
  • 2003 Led Panathinaikos of Greece to the quarter finals of the UEFA Cup
