Katergiannakis was born on [[February 16]], [[1974]] in [[Thessaloniki]]. He played for [[Ethnikos Pylaia FC]] until [[1994]] when he was acquired by [[Aris FC|Aris]] [[Thessaloniki]]. In [[2002]], he transferred to [[Olympiakos FC|Olympiakos]] where he played for two seasons. In [[2004]], he moved to Italy to play for Cagliari, returning to [[Greece]] and [[Iraklis FC|Iraklis]] just one year later. Katergiannakis was released by Iraklis in the summer of [[2007]].<br />

Katergiannakis was a member of the Greek [[National Football Team]] squad that won [[Euro 2004]], though he did not figure in any of the games.<br />
