Vasilis Syllis was a Greek sprinter in the 200m and the 400m.

Syllis was born on April 9, 1929 in the Soviet Union. He was an athelete of Pangrati.

Syllis held the Greek record for the 400m which he broke 7 times, the last time achieved on August 5, 1962, a 47.7 performance which stood for 8 years.

Among his accomplishments was a bronze medal in the Mediterranean Games of 1959.

Syllis was named "athlete of the year" - in 1954 - by the Panhellenic Sports-writers Association (PSAT) in their very first annual poll. He also won that title in 1962.
