Bost
Mentis Bostantzoglou, best known as Bost, was a cartoonist, satirist and playwright. He was born in Constantinople in 1918.
He graduated from the 8th High School and immediately entered the School of Fine Arts where he studied for one semester.
He first started as a cartoonist for children's books and magazines. Later, he worked as a political satirist and columnist for many newspapers and magazines. He also collaborated with Costas Papagiannakopoulos in developing creative advertising campaigns.
His peculiar style was characterized by intentional misspellings and he was best known for satirizing the confusion in grammar and spelling caused by formal language among ordinary people, with whom he sympathized.
In addition, he was active in the theater and painting. He wrote over 10 theatrical works, gave 16 solo painting exhibitions and published a large number of books.
In 1966 he opened a store under the name "FOLK ARTS" where he decorated over 25.000 gift items.
He died December 13, 1995 of a heart attack at the age of 77.
