The Communist Organization of Greece (Greek: Κομμουνιστική Οργάνωση Ελλάδας - Komounistiki Organosi Elladas, KOE) originates in the Organisation of Marxists-Leninists of Greece (OMLE) that split away from the Communist Party of Greece in 1964 supporting the political beliefs of Mao Zedong.

Its founding members were part of the Communist Party of Greece (Marxist-Leninist), which passed through a major crisis and splits in the early 1980s. Since 1984, they founded A/synechia and started an effort aiming at rebuilding the communist movement on a new basis. The Communist Organization of Greece was formally founded in early 2003.

Its paper is called "Aristera!" ("Left!"). "Aristera!" started in February 1996 as a monthly paper. Nowadays, it is published biweekly. In the legislative elections of 2000, KOE (under the name "Left!") particated together with M-L KKE gathering 5,866 votes.
