Dimitrios Nianias

Dimitrios Nianias is a Greek educator and politician formerly Minister for Culture of the Republic of Greece.

Nianias studied Literature and Philosophy at the University of Athens with postgraduate studies in Oxford, England.

He was elected Professor at the Athens Polytechnic Institute, in 1965, in the School of Philosophy and Logic. In 1972, he transferred to the School of Sociology and Culture.

He entered politics in 1974 when he was first elected to the Hellenic Parliament, from Lesbos, under the banner of New Democracy. He has been reelected ever since.

From 1978 until 1980, he served as Minister for Culture.
