Georgios Charidimos was a Greek master of the "shadow theatre" (Greek: Θέατρο Σκιών) which brought to life the humourous adventures of Karagiozis, a wretched hunch-backed Greek, who tries to make his way through life in the Ottoman Empire, often with hair-brained schemes that, more often than not, backfire.

Charidimos was born in Kifissia in 1924, the son of Christos Charidimos, the premier shadow theatre artist in Piraeus. Georgios picked up his father's career and by the time he retired in 1988, had completed over 7,000 shows. He died on April 3, 1996 and was buried at public expense.
