Henri de Rigny

Henri Daniel Gauthier de Rigny was a French Admiral and politician.

De Rigny was born in Lorraine on February 2, 1782. In 1827, as Vice-Admiral, he commanded the French fleet that was sent to the Peloponnese during the Greek War of Independence. On October 20, along with Sir Edward Codrington and Login Van der Heyden, he attacked and defeated the Egyptian fleet of Ibrahim Pasha in the Battle of Navarino.

De Rigny returned to France and was made a Count. In 1831 he became Minister of the Navy and, in 1834, Foreign Minister. He died on November 6, 1835.
