Karditsa (Greek:Καρδίτσα ) is a Greek city, the capital of Karditsa prefecture.
Karditsa is in western Thessaly in mainland Greece. The name literally means "little heart," as it is one of the central locations of both Greece and the region of Thessaly. Within the province of Karditsa is the region of the Agrafa high in the mountains. Karditsa ls linked with GR-30, the road to Karpenisi, and the road to Palamas and Larisa. Karditsa is south-west of Palamas and Larisa, west of Farsala and the Volos area, north-west of Athens, Lamia, Domokos and Sofades, north of Karpenisi, north-east of Arta, and east-south-east of Trikala, Grevena, Ioannina, and Kalampaka.
Karditsa has a school, lyceum, gymnasium, church, bank, post office, railway station on the Trikala–Karditsa–Domokos line, sports ground, water tower, and squares (plateies).
