Michalis Economou

Michalis Economou was a significant Greek painter of the early part of the 20th Century.

Economou was born in Piraeus in 1888. He was first taught painting by Konstantinos Volanakis before leaving in 1906 for Paris. There, he continued his studies of fine arts, taking part in several exhibits. In 1926, he returned to Greece, settling in Athens.

Economou died in 1933.

He is considered one of the best impressionist painters that Greece has produced and his work is admired both in Greece and abroad.
