- 1932: The National Theater opened. Its first production was "Agamemnon" by Aeschylus.
- 1960: The remains of poet Andreas Kalvos arrived in Greece from England for re-burial.
- 1975: Aristotle Onassis was buried in Skorpios island. During the funeral, Christina Onassis fell out with Jacqueline Kennedy-Onassis over the inheritance.
- 1983: "Vradyni" publisher, Tzortzis Athanasiadis was murdered in his office by left-wing radicals.
