Steve Yatzoglou

Steve Yatzoglou (also Steve Giatzoglou), is a former basketball player who is currently a coach, politician and president of the union of Greek basketball players.

Yatzoglou was born in the United States in 1949. He played college basketball at the University of Connecticut and came to Greece in 1975 to play for Olympiakos. There, he won two league titles and four Greek Cups. He also played for one season (1985) with PAOK. He ended his playing career in 1988.

He was capped 115 times with the National Basketball Team of Greece, scoring 1469 points. He held the record for most points scored by a Greek in European club competitions (1008), for more than a decade, until 1998 when it was broken by Dragan Tarlac.

Yatzoglou went on to coach Olympiakos, Aris, Iraklis and AEK.

In 2006, he stood in the prefectural elections of Piraeus in the list of Ar. Dinopoulos.
