Villeins

Villeins or Villano, (English: Peasants; Greek: Αγροτες). Villani were the "Class" of the peasants, and were bound (belonged) to the land (Fief) and were fully dependent of their Lord, and their offspring automatically belong to the same land owner. They were bought and sold as part of the property. Marriages outside (above) their class were not advantageous because the social status of higher ranging person was automatically downgraded.

Their social status was higher than those of the slaves and had more rights, but it was lower to everybody else.
