Kallikrates (also spelt Callicrates) was one of the two architects of the Parthenon, active mid-5th century BC.
Kallikrates was the architect responsible for overseeing the work which was mainly designed by Iktinos. He also started the building of the Temple of Athena Nike, also on the Acropolis, in 437 BC. The building of the temple was interrupted by the Peloponnesian War and was not completed until 427 BC.
