Pavlos Papaioannou was born in 1959 in Brazil, the son of a Greek father and a Brazilian mother.

He played in defence and in the midfield for Rodos FC (1980 - 1983) and AEK from 1984 until 1993.

During his career, Pavlos Papaioannou was capped 10 times by the National Football Team of Greece.
