Charis Thrasou is the current Minister for Transport and Public Works of Cyprus.

Thrasou was born in Agios Dometios in 1943. He studied civil engineering in Moscow obtaining his Masters Degree in 1967.

Thrasou worked both in the public and private sector in engineering until his appointment as Minister for Transport and Public Works on May 19, 2004. He resigned in July of 2007 after his party, AKEL, pulled out of the governing coalition.

Thrasou is married with two children.
