Simonovski coached Apollon Athens in the late 1950s before moving on to Olympiakos in the early 1960s. There, he was instrumental in the production of young talent such as Vangelis Milisis, Panagiotis Barbalias, Mimis Plessas, Nikos Sideris and Antonis Tzanetoulakos who collectively came to be known as "Simonovski's babes".
