Marathovounos is a community in Ammochostos province, Cyprus, situated 32km west of the city of Famagusta (Ammochostos).
Marathovounos has been under Turkish military occupation since 1974. Prior to the invasion, its population, of 2,300 inhabitants, was 100% Greek.
Marathovounos was the birthplace of EOKA fighter Michalis Georgalas.
