Christos Folias is a Greek politician and recently Minister for Development of the Republic of Greece.
Folias was born in Thessaloniki on February 14, 1951 and has an Economics degree from the American University of Beirut.
He entered politics in 1999 getting elected to the European Parliament. In March, 2004, he was first elected to the Hellenic Parliament, under the banner of New Democracy, in Grevena prefecture. He was reelected in 2007.
In March, 2004, Folias was appointed Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance. Following the reelection victory of New Democracy in September, 2007, he became Minister for Development.
Folias is married with three children.
