Aristotelis Pavlidis was born on the eastern Aegean island of Kos in 1943. He studied physics and mathematics at the University of Athens as well as business administration in London. A member of New Democracy's central committee, he has been elected to Parliament from the Dodecanese islands consistently since 1977, with the exception of the elections of 1996.

Pavlidis served as secretary of Parliament in 1977 and 1979. He has also chaired New Democracy's Parliamentary sub-group for issues dealing with merchant shipping. He was previously minister of merchant marine and deputy minister of national economy and finance between 1989-1992.

Aristotelis Pavlidis is married and has two daughters.
