She has collaborated with prominent Greek music composers such as Mikis Theodorakis, who put into music lyrics by such Greek poets as Odysseus Elytis, George Seferis and Andreas Calvos, as well as foreigners like Federico Garcia Lorca and Pablo Neruda for her to sing.
Farantouri has performed internationally with the Philharmonic of Israel and has toured extensively.
She is married to the politician Telemachus Chitiris.
