Olympiakos' prolific scorer, Yiannis Vazos, was born in 1913 in Smyrna, Asia Minor. He came to Greece as a 9-year old refugee child in 1922.

Vazos joined Olympiakos in 1931, from AEK Faliro, and finally retired after the 1948-1949 season. He is said to have scored over 500 goals in his career. He was capped by the Greek National Football Team 14 times scoring 5 goals.

Vazos died on November 6, 1991.
