Gregory Vlastos (Greek: Γρηγόριος Βλαστός). He was born in Istambul, Turkey to a Scottish mother and Greek father on July 27, 1907 and died on October 12, 1991of cancer in the USA.

He was a scholar of ancient philosophy, an author of works on Plato and Socrates and a teacher at some distinguished US universities.
