Andreas Karkavítsas (greek: Ανδρέας Καρκαβίτσας), was born 1866 at Lechaina, Elia and died Oct. 24, 1922. He was a novelist and short-story writer whose subject was village life.

Karkavítsas studied medicine at Athens and became an army doctor. In this capacity he traveled to many villages in the provinces. His short stories tell of the life, traditions, and legends of the villages. He belonged to the National Language Society.
