• 1938: Crown Prince Paul of Greece marries Princess Frederika in Athens.
• 1954: The prenuptial health certificate (προγαμιαίο πιστοποιητικό υγείας) enters Greek life.
• 1965: The Greek government officially announces that 4,000 Greeks were forced to leave Istanbul during 1964 - the year of the Cyprus crisis.
• 1979: Greek television begins broadcasting in color using the French system SECAM. It will later be replaced by the German PAL
• 2006: President of the Republic, Karolos Papoulias, was presented with the country's first new-style passport, bearing the symbolic number "1". The security features of the new passports include a watermark, unique thematic designs, and invisible designs that appear only with the use of specialised equipment.
