1797: Greek poet Rigas Fereos was arrested by Austrian authorities in Trieste.
1923: King George II went into exile.
1924: The 8-hour workday was established in Greece.
1980: Unidentified bombers destroyed mega-stores Katrantzos and Mignon in Athens.

Deaths: Kostas Pretenteris, journalist/writer of theatrical works (1978).
