Paul IV was Patriarch of Constantinople from 780 till 784.
Paul was originally from Cyprus. He was elected to the throne of St Andrew in 780 with the support of iconomach emperor Leo IV. Though originally an iconophil, Paul took on a middle road approach to the matter of icons. He withdrew from the Patriarchate in August of 784 and entered a monastery.
